Colgate Games

The Colgate Games are held annually in both the North and the South Islands, and are coordinated by the New Zealand Children's  Athletic Association Inc. They are always held in early January - in the North Island about 1 week after the new year and then the South Island follows a week later. Some children are so keen to compete that they attend both weekends!
The games are a great athletic and social event, and a chance to meet other athletes from other centres. The emphasis is on participation and enjoyment, and entry is open to any registered athlete (14 and under).

From 2011, the walks have been opened up for 10 to 14 year old children. The 10, 11 and 12 year olds walk 1200 metres; the 13 year olds do 1600 metres and the 14 year olds 2000 metres.
